INTO THE CLASSROOM

The world of literacy is rich and diverse with practices varying according to culture, location and personal preference. Multiliteracies brings new opportunities for these valuable literacy practices from popular culture to be integrated into the curriculum in a meaningful and relevant way.

The purpose of the Multiliteracies Learning Initiative is not only to provide evidence that a multiliteracies approach works and is justified but to also provide examples of how multiliteracies can be applied to the classroom for work with children. Therefore our audience is professionals from all educational spheres.

This 'Into the classroom' area of the website aims to provide examples of how multiliteracies and the core principles of the MLI can be applied to the classroom through extended project work. Over the coming months examples of good practice will be added to this site. Our first focus will be on the primary curriculum and we will then progress onto exploring other phases of education.

Examples of classroom practice will follow soon...
